Feel good about yourself and become
a Humanitarian -
FIVE MILLION children die
each year from malnutrition. Our mission is to be a
powerful force in saving children’s lives. Every
donation will reach needy children through reputable
relief agencies who frequently report on the progress
and health of the children nourished. The primary
product donated is VitaMeal, a nutrient-dense food
ideally suited to meet the nutritional requirements of
malnourished children.

contribution make a difference?

"Do
not do for us."These words were spoken by
Napoleon Dzombe in one of the earliest planning meetings
and it became one of the foundation principles for the
project. Napoleon spoke these words in the text of
asking The Malawi Project to help them learn to fish,
not give them the fish. "Do not make us a nation
of beggars", he pleaded. "Help us to get
on our feet. Do not do for us what we can do for
ourselves."
That equates to 15,000 children
dying each day from malnutrition*
800 million people are going hungry,
mostly children?*
50% of the world's children are severely
underweight*
Many of those children are dying with
full stomachs!
The consequences of malnutrition in Children
are:
Infant Mortality
Growth Stunting
Anaemia
Decreased Learning Capacity
Weakened Immune System
The valiant efforts of
relief agencies and humanitarian
organisations are to be commended; however,
despite their efforts, the problem of
starving and malnourished children remains.
Nu Skin Enterprises believes that by
combining entrepreneurship and
humanitarianism with qualified relief
organisations, we can truly make a
difference.
First Harvest International,
a wholly owned subsidiary of Nu Skin Enterprises, is a
manufacturer that specialises in nutrient
dense foods called VitaMeals. These foods are formulated
for the world's hungry children.
So how can you help feed children?
Purchase VitaMeal Foods
Instead of giving money to a charity, which may be
used for administrative costs, give food to the
children, which will be delivered by leading
humanitarian organisations.
Nu Skin Enterprises Donates
Nu Skin Enterprises will also donate one extra
VitaMeal package for every 25 VitaMeal packages
purchased.
The
VitaMeals donated by you are highly nutritious,
developed by food scientists and nutritionists. Each
package contains 30 child servings and for only £23 you
could send 2 packages, that is 60 meals. As with all Nu
Skin Enterprises products, participating distributors
are compensated when they purchase VitaMeals.
When you
purchase and donate VitaMeal foods, you help school
children in Haiti, orphans in Guatemala and Romania, and
starving children in Malawi, Swaziland, and Mozambique
and so many more children in need. In return for your
contribution, Nu Skin Enterprises will make sure you
know who has received your donation in the following
ways:
A Nourish the Children Initiative e-mail
update will be sent to each person who
has provided Nu Skin Enterprises with an
e-mail address. The e-mails will contain
photographs of the children and details
about their lives and progress.
The Nourish the Children Initiative web
site includes a frequently updated
Nourish the Children Report that tracks
each shipment of food from the warehouse
to the hungry children.
You may purchase VitaMeal™ as a
one-time donation or automatically on a
monthly basis with ADP. We make all the
arrangements to donate it directly to
malnourished children around the world.
THE PROJECT
Native Malawians constructed a dedicated plant, based in
Lilongwe, Malawi Africa and it is here that the VitaMeal
Porridge is manufactured from locally grown produce.
The Malawi Project is a qualified charity that is
dedicated to helping the people of Malawi. Of the eleven
million people in Malawi it is estimated that 20% are
HIV positive. Malawi's children comprise nearly half of
the country's total population. Three of every ten
children will die before they reach five years of age
and thirty percent of the remaining number will die
before they reach the age of 10.
One missionary reported many Malawians used to number,
instead of naming, their children until they were two
years old. A proper name was not given until then
because of the probability of an early death.
Approximately two million of Malawi's children are
orphans without means of providing for themselves or
their siblings.
Since 1993, The Malawi Project has been helping these
people. Dick Stephens, the Executive Director of the
Malawi Project, contributes months of his time each year
to travel to Malawi and arrange for the distribution of
food, medical supplies, clothing and other important
donations. Along with his wife, Dick Stephens works with
a local leader, Napoleon Dzombe to assure that the
products are delivered to those most in need.
Napoleon Dzombe is a native Malawian who left his
home as a young man with only $3 in his pocket and an
admonition from his father to help his people. He became
a successful businessman with his own lumber company.
Witnessing the terrible troubles of his people caused by
drought and disease, Napoleon decided that he needed to
take responsibility to save his people. He began
providing food from his home and very soon thousands of
people came for help. He learned how to organise the
people to assure that everyone received help......

“Our
mission
from the very beginning has been to be a
force for good
in the world. The Nourish the Children

Feed the
Children - Global Charity Partners
Although Nourish The Children partners with a number
of effective charities around the world, our primary
global partner is
Feed the Children.
Feed The Children is an international, non-profit,
non-denominational Christian relief organization
with headquarters in Oklahoma City, Okla., that
delivers food, medicine, clothing and other
necessities to individuals, children and families
who lack these essentials due to famine, war,
poverty or natural disaster. During its 25-year
history, Feed The Children has created and developed
one of the world's largest private organizations
dedicated to feeding hungry people. Last year, Feed
The Children shipped 61 million pounds of food and
22 million pounds of other essentials to children
and families in all 50 states and in 62 foreign
countries.
Since June 2002, Nu Skin Enterprises' Nourish the
Children initiative has used Feed the Children to
deliver donated bags of its VitaMeal product to
areas of the world where there is a need. Feed The
Children has received satisfactory ratings from
several rating services including Charity Navigator
(www.charitynavigator.org), Ministry Watch
(www.ministrywatch.com), Forbes magazine
(www.forbes.com), the Chronicle of Philanthropy
(www.philanthropy.com) and the Better Business
Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance (www.give.org).
Feed The Children is particularly suited to support
Nourish the Children because it is one of the few
charities that deal mostly with gifts-in-kind or
non-cash donations. The charity is able to leverage
its cash donations to distribute a large amount of
donated goods and supplies around the world,
including VitaMeal. We have enjoyed our relationship
with Feed The Children which makes it possible for
Nourish the Children to distribute thousands of
VitaMeal bags to our projects in distant corners of
the world without charge.
